Fatal Attraction

I always been attracted in the bad boy type; tattoos, buff, carefree and dangerous. These characteristics got my adrenaline pumping to the point where I would feel weak when I was around one. Sadly, I ended up being blinded by love from someone who fell into those categories.

In high school I started talking to a guy who I knew was trouble, me being naive I went for it. Frankie was one tough kid, always making deviant decisions; never really cared for those around him. As I started dating him, I notice that he was beginning to verbally abuse me by cussing at me all the time and putting me down. He would always tell me “I’m sorry” and me being blind, I accepted his apology all the time. Frankie was gang affiliated and was always in and out of juvenile hall. He constantly was out in the streets committing gang related crimes. He could be the sweetest guy but at times his mood would always change with me as if he was bipolar. He begins to become possessive with me to the point where he would tell me “where was I at, with whom?”  “I don’t want you to be going out”.  This wasn’t love, it scared me and I just couldn’t deal with that anymore. I ended it completely because I realize that dating a guy like that isn’t going to get me anywhere in life. This change came gradually for me and it affected me in a positive way because now I don’t date bad boys who are trouble.  This relationship not only affected me but those around me. My parents never approved of him and always tried to keep him away from me, even though I wouldn’t want that. This was a lesson learned for me.

  1. You are a strong person to walk away. There are so many people out there who stay in relationships that aren’t good because they don’t have the strength to walk away. You should be proud of yourself.

  2. It's great that you were finally able to see how he wasn't benefiting you and how unhealthy the relationship was.

  3. I'm glad you realized how this guy was acting towards you. Sometimes you think you know someone but in the end you don't and at that point its best to try to move away from them in order for you not to get hurt. Thanks for sharing this.

  6. At least you know he wasn't doing anything good for you and it takes a strong person to see that. A lot of people are blinded.

  7. You are lucky enough to realize that you needed to walk away. Most people don't.

  11. That guy is making my name look bad because my name is Frankie too haha jk but its cool that you took off whatever was blinding you and that you made the right choice on what type of guy you want to be with because i know people that have gone through your situation but sadly stayed with the guy and now have a horrible life.

  12. Well at least you were able to get away with your self esteem in tact. Sounds like the right decision.
